FULL HOW‑TO / SETTINGS / WINDING / OPERATION

Winding

  • Hand‑wind: Rotate crown clockwise 20 to 30 turns.

  • Automatic winding: Normal wrist movement keeps the rotor spinning.

  • Rotor noise: The rotor winds in one direction and spins freely in the other, so you may hear or feel it whirl. This is normal.

  • Do not overwind: The movement has a slipping clutch, so it is safe to wind daily.

Setting the Time

  1. Pull crown to position 2 (furthest out).

  2. On hacking versions the seconds hand stops. On older non‑hacking versions it keeps running.

  3. Rotate crown to set hour/minute hands.

  4. Push crown back in.

Setting the Date (8215 / 821A / 8205)

  1. Pull crown to position 1.

  2. Rotate crown to change the date.

  3. Avoid setting between 9 PM and 4 AM, when the date gears are engaged.

Setting the Day (8205 only)

  • In position 1, rotate crown the opposite direction to change the day.

Starting the Movement

  • Shake gently or wind 10 to 15 turns.

  • Movement begins immediately once the balance wheel oscillates.

Seconds Hand Stutter

  • The seconds hand may hesitate or skip slightly at times, especially when the watch is moved.

  • This comes from the indirect‑drive seconds design and is normal. It does not affect timekeeping.

Accuracy Notes

  • Factory spec: ‑20 to +40 sec/day

  • Real‑world: Often tighter once worn consistently

  • Can be regulated by a watchmaker if needed
